Maya Health Alliance (Wuqu’ Kawoq) is a leader in research and treatment models for chronic diseases, including child malnutrition, diabetes, heart disease and cancer. The organization provides primary care services in five Mayan languages around central Guatemala to 20,000 individuals.
In addition to world class healthcare driven by data and field research, Maya Health Alliance makes preservation of Maya language and culture a top priority. All of the work is accomplished in a sustainable manner, which means, care is in the language of the patient, with the majority of care provided by Guatemalan health care providers, sourcing local medications and supplies with the goal of providing bright futures for some of the poorest of the poor while also transforming the model for global health.
